Monday mornings are difficult enough as it is for most office workers. In 1963, Robert Rabinovitch and others responded to a survey of McGill clubs about how to make McGill student activities more relevant by setting up a standing Educational committee. It took up the goals of the Quebec Liberal government for a greatly expanded tuition-free and secular education system. Robert Rabinovitch became the main author of a government funded survey of student means that was later spread across Canada by CUS in February 1965. The Education committee also developed plans for high school visitation and for tutoring of students in less advantaged areas. In fall 1964, Robert’s younger brother Victor became editor of the High School Supplement to the Daily, published twice in October and on the last Friday of November, January, February and May (640921p4). Victor was active in various committees of UGEQ from the beginning and worked in the CUS national office in the summer of 1967. His thinking in this period was very much that of someone who was seeking to interpret and apply the ideas developed by others within the elected bodies UGEQ but also, less directly, those of CUS. Like most liberal-left McGill students, he was both an English-Canadian, whose ideological influences and sense of self-interest were English-Canadian, and a Quebecer who supported UGEQ and student syndicalism as a means to a new Quebec, above all by supporting what he called the educational revolution now in progress in Quebec†(641002p?). A republic, by which I mean a government in which the scheme of representation takes place, opens a different prospect, and promises the cure for which we are seeking. Let us examine the points in which it varies from pure democracy, and we shall comprehend both the nature of the cure and the efficacy which it must derive from the Union. For them, having more is an inalienable right, a right they have acquired through their own “effort,” with their courage to take risks. If others do not have more,it is because they are incompetent and lazy, and worst of all is their unjustifiable ingratitude towards the “generous gestures” of the Dominant class(who in contemporary parlance they should not be taxed because they create the jobs in the country-talk about the Koch Brothers and their links to the Tea Baggers). Precisely because they are seen as “ungrateful” and “envious,” the oppressed are regarded as potential enemies who must be watched.
Quo Warranto – A lawsuit challenging the legal right of a person who holds a particular public office to hold that office. The big problem with socialism is that it’s based on classism. People are arbitrarily divided into classes and their wants and needs are based on that class. But we are all of us individuals. And the powers of heaven are now on earth – on the people of the saints of God for the sins of the two Babylon’s have now reached the heavens, hence the powers of the heavens are now on the earth. The seven angels with the vials (13p.60 TSST) of the seven final plagues (Rev. 16:1-21) – which are the wrath of God: for these are the powers of heavens, which the angels of God will cast upon Babylon, The Great (the government of Man) and Mystery Babylon, The Great (false churches of Man) – to dissolved and destroy them unto their end from the hearts and life of the sons and daughters of Man. 100 Bree Cook et al, Victims’ Needs, Victims’ Rights: Policies and Programs for Victims of Crime in Australia (Research and Public Policy Series No.19, Australian Institute of Criminology, 1999) 57. Contrast this to Texas. Texas’ economy is booming. Nearly 1 million have moved into the state from 2000 – 2009. Nearly 145,000 have moved into the state during 2008-2009 alone. It’s fiscal condition is sound. Public employee unions are weak or nonexistent. It’s government is a fraction of the size of California’s. Despite its small government, Texas is delivering superior services. Its teachers are paid less than California’s, yet Texas’ test scores are higher than California. Texas has no income tax, a legislature that meets only ninety days every two years, is building new freeways and boasts an unemployment rate below that of the national average. Due to population growth Texas is poised to add four more electoral votes in the 2010 apportionment, while California, for the first time in its history, will gain no electoral votes. A PAC is a political action committee that typically works on behalf of a candidate for office. Super PACs emerged after the Citizens United v. FEC case addressing corporate funding towards government elections. The Supreme Court case held in 2010 ruled that independent expenditure only committees, as well as “Super PACs” were permitted to accept unlimited contributions from members, and ruled that they could make unlimited expenditures themselves, aimed at electing or defeating a particular party. The most people that are hard hit too are the majority of White people who are the major recipients of Foodstamps. While most of them were busy supporting the Tea Baggers and their insidious and odious plans to defund Obamacare and cut Foodstamps, they were blind-sided by their dislike for Obama, and they gave free reign to the zealots of the Tea Bagger Party to carte balance affect their Foodstamps and health.
