As much as the United States of America is globally known as a democratic government, it is more accurately termed as a constitutional federal government. The anarcho-syndicalist revolution during the Spanish Civil War resulted in the widespread implementation of anarchist and more broadly socialist organisational principles throughout various portions of the country for two to three years, primarily Catalonia, Aragon , Andalusia and parts of the Levante , with the main organisation being the Confederación Nacional del Trabajo Much of Spain’s economy was put under worker control—in anarchist strongholds like Catalonia, the figure was as high as 75%. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. By contrast, most office coffee service companies provide a high quality, professional coffee maker for free as long as you contract to buy a minimum amount of coffee and supplies through their service. Many Americans bewail the salaries of Fortune 500 CEOs, but they think nothing of the even higher salaries earned by celebrities, athletes, and entertainers. Redistributive taxation is the weapon of equalization. Public control over labor and the money market are means to achieve their ends. Overregulation ignores the vast productive possibilities of Capitalism to lift all boats to a higher standard of living. It is only where responsibility can be learned and practiced in affairs with which most people are familiar, where it is the awareness of one’s neighbor rather than some theoretical knowledge of the needs of other people which guides action, that the ordinary man can take a real part in public affairs because they concern the world he knows. Where the scope of political measures becomes so large that the bureaucracy almost exclusively possesses the necessary knowledge, the creative impulses of the private person must flag. When Europe consolidated and its member nations accelerated the growth of their big-government socialist states, they set their feet on a path of unavoidable disaster. The struggling economies in places like Greece and Spain, figuring their losses would be covered by the European Central Bank and the union’s stronger economies, spent heavily on entitlements and “green jobs” boondoggles. Sound familiar? The collapse of those economies, and the accompanying street violence, should be dramatic teaching moments that drive home the venerable Ms. Thatcher’s lesson. It is commonly accepted that a child born of nationals of a particular state should be granted the nationality of that state by reason of descent. This idea is particularly utilised in continental European countries, for example, France, Germany and Switzerland, where the child will receive the nationality of his father, although many municipal systems do provide that an illegitimate child will take the nationality of his mother. On the other hand, in common law countries such as Britain and the US the doctrine of the jus sanguinis is more restricted, so that where a father has become a national by descent it does not always follow that that fact alone will be sufficient to make the child a national. The common law countries have tended to adopt the jus soli rule, whereby any child born within the territorial limits of the state automatically becomes a national thereof. There is an exception to this, however, which applies to virtually every country applying the jus soli rule, and that is with regard to persons entitled to immunity from the jurisdiction of the state. In other words, the children of diplomatic personnel born within the country do not automatically acquire its nationality.

This doctrine seems to have been applied in the British case of Joyce v. Director of Public Prosecutions involving the infamous pro-Nazi propagandist ‘Lord Haw-Haw’. Joyce was born in America, but in 1933 fraudulently acquired a British passport by declaring that he had been born in Ireland. In 1939, he left Britain and started working for German radio. The following year, he claimed to have acquired German nationality. The case turned on whether the British court had jurisdiction to try him after the war, on a charge of treason. The House of Lords decided that jurisdiction did exist in this case. Joyce had held himself out to be a British subject and had availed himself of the protection (albeit fraudulently) of a British passport. Accordingly he could be deemed to owe allegiance to the Crown, and be liable for a breach of that duty. The fact that the treason occurred outside the territory of the UK was of no consequence since states were not obliged to ignore the crime of treason committed against them outside their territory. Joyce was convicted and suffered the penalty for his actions. The state of Georgia, like other states, has some common criminal laws. However, the state itself has also established some laws that are to be followed when arresting a person for any form of criminal act. Any act of defiance that might breach the public laws or completely neglect the same can be construed as an act of crime, and the state can file a lawsuit against the individual. Bench Warrant: Court papers issued by the judge, “from the bench,” for the arrest of a person. In Bolivia, Evo Morales was elected President in 2005 of the poorest nation in South America, and he was also the first indigenous leader of that country to ever hold that position of power, after having long been dominated by the Spanish-descended landed aristocracy. Evo Morales rose to power on the wave of various social movements within Bolivia, key among them being the water wars” which took place in Cochabamba, Bolivia’s third largest city, in 2000. It would not be difficult to show that in time the distinction becomes scarcely apparent. It is sufficient to recall that in our present historical situation — elimination of imperialism which uses every means to perpetuate its domination over our peoples, and consolidation of socialism throughout a large part of the world — there are only two possible paths for an independent nation: to return to imperialist domination (neocolonialism, capitalism, state capitalism), or to take the way of socialism.
