John, Kenneth B. (2001) Anti-parliamentary passage: South Wales and the internationalism of Sam Mainwaring (1841-1907). We live in an exciting time in history. The widespread availability of computers and Internet connections provides unprecedented opportunities to communicate and learn. Unfortunately, although most people use the Internet as a powerful and beneficial tool for communication and education, some individuals exploit the power of the Internet for criminal or terrorist purposes. Section 1.3.2 and 1.3.3 above. The common law courts in Singapore generally adopt an adversarial approach in litigation between the disputing parties whilst the civil law judges tend to take a more active role in the finding of evidence to decide the outcome of the case. Thirdly, whilst numerous legal principles have been developed by common law judges, the civil law judges are more reliant on general and comprehensive codes governing wide areas. While there is no realistic “final” way out of this bind, progress could be made through a “co-operative incentive and support scheme” designed to encourage co-operative ownership through finance, advice and taxation incentives. Re-expanding the public sector would mark a reassertion of democratic control over the economy, and the capture of any surplus for social ends. Public ownership remains defensible for these reasons, and others, including the need to provide competition in oligopoly markets, to provide essential services on the basis of need, not profitability, and the need to provide first class infrastructure in areas of “natural public monopoly”. Socialist attempts to run agriculture were so poor that 5.2 million people starved to death. That number would have been six times higher had not Americans, led by Herbert Hoover, rushed in to feed the Russian people. As Aristotle commonly does, he applies physics to his scale of worth. The higher the items are on the scale, the more developed and organic they are, as opposed to the lower the item is, the more elemental it is. Nevertheless, the more intelligent person will not necessarily gain acceptance as a ruler in Aristotle’s polity. As mentioned previously, like democracy, Aristotle decides to hold elections, but not “by lot” like a normal oligarchy suggests. Once again, the magnitude of the power resides in the middle class, for it is the middle classes who are the good citizens and are for the “good laws.” If the system becomes tainted, and in turn, the state cannot keep people in check, a tyranny will emerge. What is helpful to remember is that in both cases of Aristotle’s polity and Plato’s perfect state the majority does not always rule. Two key facts to bring attention to in regards to political and social structure in Plato’s perfect state are organization and unity. Plato’s ideal state is centered completely on stability and structure. The solution to the problem of a non-governing state, according to Plato, is a combination of the two; organization and stability. Everyone has his or her proper position in the state, and for the greater good, they will and must adhere to it.
Kangaroo Court – Term descriptive of a sham legal proceeding in which a person’s rights are totally disregarded and in which the result is a foregone conclusion because of the bias of the court or other tribunal. Research Interests: the structure and mechanics of power within corporate global entertainment, imagined utopian economies and geographies such as a decolonized, anti-racist, anti-discriminatory entertainment industry; post nation-state political organization, collective and indigenous rights, narrative ownership, and global development. Investigatory Grand Jury: A judge, constitutional state referee or any three judges of the Superior Court, appointed by the Chief Court Administrator to conduct an investigation into the commission of a crime or crimes. Doctrine that says evidence obtained in violation of a criminal defendant’s constitutional or statutory rights is not admissible at trial. It has NOTHING to do with social programs. The countries with the most social programs often have the most capitalistic governmental systems. Despite its innovative features, Yugoslavia’s forty years’ experience of liberal economic reforms did not produce the expected and desired outcomes. Although important economic objectives had been achieved, the economic model based on the combination of socialist principles, planning instruments, the market mechanism and workers’ self-management was not able to avoid problems of either of the two economic systems (Uvalić, 2010, p. 21). As noted by Estrin, There is little doubt that the Yugoslav economy has suffered for its inventiveness†(Estrin, 1983, p. 52). In 1998, Hugo Chavez became President of Venezuela, having campaigned on promises of aiding the nation’s poor majority. In 2002, an American coup attempt took place in Venezuela, but Chavez retained his power and was further emboldened by the attempt, and gained a great burst of popular support among the people. Cause of action – The fact or facts which give a person a right to relief in court. Indeed it was focussed on changing the student society within the university, so that there would be no more need for conservative councils to censor liberal-left student newspapers or vice-versa, and no more problems with student councils having clear mandates from their electors to take stands on issues in the university and in society. The answer to these serious problems can possibly be found in students running for council as members of campus political parties or perhaps in the establishment of a competing newspaper on campus†as well as regular Open meetings that could override Council and thereby keep it honest (670117p2 or 4).
