When you hear the term “office supplies,” you usually think of products such as pens, paper, paperclips, and staples. The Republicans are reviving ACORN-like groups. Because many GOP-run states have opted out of Obamacare, community groups, including the remnants of ACORN, an anti-poverty organizing outfit that collapsed a few years ago in the wake of a controversy triggered by a misleading right-wing-made undercover video, are filling the void. They are working in the field to find and sign-up low-income Americans who qualify for coverage under Obamacare. Conservatives cheered the death of ACORN. But they have helped set the stage for its return (a possibility that has some right-wingers pulling out their hair). Look at New York as a state-level example. Through the representatives its citizens elected, they are mandating, (or trying to), your salt intake, the amount of soda you can drink, and more. Are those powers you want the government to have over your life? Now, imagine—with a popular vote scenario, your national government having those same powers. Office equipment that works well has a similar impact on the mood around the office. If there’s a struggle every time a document needs to be copied or a fax must be sent, workers will dread these tasks and put them off when possible. Or, if they push through uncooperative machines to get the job done their dispositions will suffer. Have you ever tried to return something after Christmas at the store or set up a follow-up appointment at a busy doctors office, or gone to the post office to ship a package and met rude customer service people? Well, not to excuse their behavior but here are a few things you may want to know. Neo-Cons(who ever they are) put GWB in office twice? Seems to me it was the electoral process and the American people. The “Neo-Cons” must make up a HUGE portion of the American electorate. The UK has a common law legal system. It is very difficult to give a simple definition of the legal system in the UK, but you may find it helps to think of it as the system that covers how all civil and criminal laws are made, used and enforced. Look to history, and you see that from some of the most oppressive societies can come the greatest of humanity. Russia, a nation which has never in its history experienced true political freedom for the individual, has managed to produce some of the greatest music, art, expression and literature as a vibrant outcry of humanity from a society so overcome with the need to control it. Historically, when Socialists like Obama have been elected to government, they thrive like cancer—targeting healthy economic markets and individuals with new and higher taxes to pay for public welfare programs. Obama is a red diaper baby that inherently does not represent Americans, but a Marxist ideology—that mandates forcing socialism on U.S. Citizens—even if that means destroying the U.S. economy in addition to abolition of the Constitution. Obama’s has already forced unaffordable health insurance, new taxes and regulatory costs on businesses that will inhibit investment and hiring of new employees for years.
A civil, not criminal, wrong. A negligent or intentional injury against a person or property, with the exception of breach of contract. Did the temperature stop rising? Not on your life! By now Washington had total control of the financial state of the citizens. It was time to dictate what people can believe in and what they can say. The liberals were ready to take full advantage of the power they had put in their hands through the abominable system of taxation that they had perpetrated on this society, under the pretence of taking care of the poor. It was time to remove any and all expression of faith in God from the public square. Did the deceived Christians catch up with what was going on? Sadly, the answer is no. Even when the liberal began to champion the wholesale slaughter of the most innocent and helpless of our citizens, the liberal Christians†continued to rationalize with every conceivable lame excuse and twist of logic they could find. All because they were unwilling to part with the waves of warm fuzzies that their ideas of social engineering kept giving them. We must always respect the rule of law. The public will get real freedom only when the law is fairly and equally applied. My government has taken steps to change the culture of political interference in legal matters. As such, New Left teachers advanced and briefly enacted an anti-racist vision of joint teacher-community control. Nonetheless, they did not hold the influence or formal organizational authority to shift the UFT towards such a stance, let alone the broader labor movement. Ultimately, school decentralization was significantly watered down. Union-community relations continued to sour. The Criminal Courts deal with prosecutions brought by the State against people accused of anti-social behaviour – from petty theft to murder. The judge plays a relatively passive role. The judge is not involved in investigating the alleged crime, deciding what charge(s) are filed against the accused, or how the prosecution or defence cases are conducted during the trial, except to ensure that the rules of evidence and procedure are followed. Introduction to Family Law from People’s Law School gives an overview of topics such as common problems, related laws, and words and phrases. A lawyer who specializes in representing clients by making legal arguments in courts, tribunals or in front of other decision-making bodies. The law shall define the extent and limit of Portugal’s territorial waters, its exclusive economic zone and its rights to the adjacent seabeds. People will have to opt for either political democracy or economic democracy. That is, they will have to choose a socio-economic system based on either a centralized economy or a decentralized economy. Which one will they select? Political democracy cannot fulfill the hopes and aspiration of people or provide the basis for constructing a strong and healthy human society. The only way to achieve this is to establish economic democracy. Fewer than half of 18- to 29-year-olds now support capitalism. They are right that markets without guardrails do not produce a healthy society. But a government that overreaches by trying to replace the market in areas like health care or job creation will not restore that trust. This is the balancing act we face. In 1916, there was a news article about the condition of the stockyards next to the Soo Line Depot. On August 15, 1918, George Wilbur built a flour mill near the lumber yard. Finally, by the end of the decade in 1919, the Wisconsin Condensed Milk Company sold its interest to the Nestle Corporation. Immigration and Ethnic History Society Aims to promote the study of the history of immigration to the United States and Canada from all parts of the world, including studies of the background of emigration in the countries of origin; to promote the study of ethnic groups in the United States, including regional groups, native Americans and forced immigrants. Post Judgment: Any request to a court or action by a judge after a judgment in a case. Affirmative Defense – Apart from denying a charge or claim, a defendant may assert affirmative defenses such as insanity, self-defense or entrapment to avoid criminal responsibility, or assert the statute of limitations or bankruptcy to avoid civil liability. In a purely capitalist economy, there would be no public schools, no state owned or maintained roads and highways, public works, welfare, unemployment insurance, workers compensation, Social Security benefits etc. Legal Custody: Relationship with a child created by court order which gives a person legal responsibility for the physical possession of a minor and the duty to protect, care for and discipline the child. 44. See for instance Morland, who, like Newman (op. cit., Ref. 41), views ‘postanarchism’ as both a reapplication of key anarchist themes to the contemporary setting, but also as an ‘evolution’; that is to say postanarchisms are more higher developed variants, which junk an inappropriate Marxism (D. Morland, ‘Anti-capitalism and Poststructuralist Anarchism’, in J. Purkis and J. Bowen (Eds), Changing Anarchism: Anarchist Theory and Practice in a Global Age (Manchester: Manchester University Press, 2004), pp. 23-38, pp. 24-25). Such confusion may be because the main intent of the text is not to theoretically locate postanarchism, but to concentrate on describing the main features or applications of postanarchisms to assist practical struggles.
Platos Republic is not much of a republic, read it again his republic is based on more for elitist style government where the wealthy and influential control things. In criminal law, a person who is charged with an offence under the Criminal Code is called the Accused. A person is called the Accused up to and throughout a trial until the charges have been dealt with and the matter is concluded. Capitalism rewards hard work and ingenuity with compensation, usually money. Socialism does not. Therein lies the greatest difference between the two economic systems, and exposes Socialism’s major flaw: its failure to fully understand human nature. Civil law systems, on the other hand, place much less emphasis on precedent than they do on the codification of the law. Civil law systems rely on written statutes and other legal codes that are constantly updated and which establish legal procedures, punishments, and what can and cannot be brought before a court. Many laws are enforced by threat of criminal punishment , and the range of the punishment varies with the jurisdiction. The scope of criminal law is too vast to catalog intelligently. Nevertheless, the following are some of the more typical aspects of criminal law. Capitalism vs Socialism Tejvan Pettinger October 28, 2017 The main difference between capitalism and socialism is the extent of government intervention in the economy. Louisiana Lightsey is a PhD student in the cultural anthropology program at the University of Georgia. Her central research focus is political ecology and indigenous community resistance in Latin America. She received her Master’s Degree in 2016 from the University of Arizona where she studied Latin American literature and cultural studies in the Department of Spanish & Portuguese. His home brews were legendary – he had his equipment in the shed for making them – and many a time my friends went home a little merry after a night at my house. Inspirational women who fought fearlessly and hard during not one but two movements, African American women are truly underrepresented and underappreciated. A sizeable amount of the women above starred in the face of adversity and without fear in their hearts proceeded to battle for what they deserved and desired – equality. Questioning – A meeting at which a party to a lawsuit is asked questions about the case by the opposing party’s lawyer under oath in the presence of a reporter who records the questions and answers. James, there is no arguing with your historical accuracy, your research is wonderfully flawless. While I personally respect people’s opinions on both sides of the fence, because the truth is, both sides want to accomplish the same thing and that is peace, order and prosperity; I still hold that it will always be an illusion – government that is. I simply believe in a world without fences and the things people on this side of one fence have to do to people on the other side of the fence to maintain this illusion of peace, order and prosperity is to me simply unChristian. What people are convinced is a better system still cannot be accomplished without others suffering, others dying. I can never be the hand that enforces my beliefs on another and so I can never support any form a government that says I must enforce it – and I would not and could not wish anyone to kill or die for me; Christ already did that once and for all time. I believe in the longsuffering of the peacemaker. Peace.
Indonesia is marred with corruption as if it has become part of the “culture”. Indonesia ranks 34th by the 2014 World Corruption Perception Index. It’s even below some African countries such as Nigeria, Zambia and Trinidad. If you compare that to Denmark, which was ranked number 1 as a nation with the lowest perception of corruption, Indonesia still has a long way to go. There is almost zero confidence among the public for government officials and law-makers. On a brighter note though, Governor Basuki has somewhat shown progress in eradicating corruption via the use of innovative technological ideas, transparency and bureaucracy overhaul (see my previous article, “Jakarta Governor Basuki T.Purnama and His Social Programs”). Lenin defined himself as a Socialist until he seized power in Russia, after which he was a self-described Communist. Each person in such a society would provide the commonweal according to their ability; and each person will be supplied according to their needs. The optimistic positivism of structuralism’s collectivistic goals, along with many individuals’ faith in the paradigm of social structures referred to as Modernismâ€, were thrown into question by the political and social events of the 20th century: …the great impact of the Second World War in France elevated issues of politics and ethical responsibility arising from questions about humanism, the self, and power.†(Silva 2012:564). People began to question the assumptions that were believed to have caused the widespread injustices and inequalities which were becoming associated with Modernism. Among those who were eventually defined as Post Structuralists, the individuals who began in the 1960’s to attack Structuralism’s basic tenets had themselves previously been included among the coterie of Structuralists, including Foucault, Derrida, Althusser, and Pierre Bourdieu (Deleuze 2002:170-192). Joining in the siege of Structuralism were such notable intellectuals as literary critic Roland Barthes, among others (Lavers 1982). Though some proponents of Structuralism remain, exemplified by the work of Jacques Lacan, the dominant trend in the French intellectual establishment from the 1960’s onward was reacting against such universalizing meta-narrativesâ€, and that trend was called Post Structuralism. Whatever system we have of governing ourselves, has become a costly one. That is because, governing ourselves, the one that does not directly make any value addition to our society, in fact takes a lion’s share of the efforts, both from the side of government and from the side of citizens. Such a complex structure came into existence when the task of governance was simpler and more straight-forward. In the early society, where neither there was the need nor the people had the intent, or the opportunities, of gainful occupation, activities of governance were perceived as something welcome, as well as necessary.
