When offices manage their printers, photocopiers and fax machines as a fleet, rather than each individual department finding equipment that meets its own needs, the needs of the company as a whole can be taken into account and the devices can be optimised to provide cost savings and improve efficiency. Extraordinary simplification, excessive rationalization and contentious divisiveness degrade any semblance of a civilized society. As such, there is a sense of arrogance in the ignorance. In an article for a national newspaper, the online admonition of American society focused on the commonplace “embracing of ignorance”. Accordingly, the claim points to the current trend of glorifying ignorance and disdaining intellectualism. While believing in something without facts or evidence is one thing. It is quite another to make public policy based on belief. Despite these socialist features of the Yugoslav economy, self-management still played an important role in Yugoslavia – if not for the immediate and direct consequences, for the long-term implications (Uvalić, 1992, pp. 214-215). The idea of self-management had the function of a reformist ideal, similar to that of the social-democratic ideals in Western market economies which have progressively modified and enabled a moving away from the model of unrestrained crude capitalism. In Yugoslavia, had it not been for the introduction of self-management in the early 1950s, which effectively initiated and facilitated a long process of economic reforms, many institutional changes would probably not have been introduced. In England, courts of law and equity were combined by the Judicature Acts of 1873 and 1875, with equity being supreme in case of conflict. In the United States, parallel systems of law (providing money damages) and equity (fashioning a remedy to fit the situation) survived well into the 20th century in most jurisdictions. In the federal courts there is no separation between law and equity; Delaware still has separate courts of law and equity, and in many states there are separate divisions for law and equity within one court. In 1967, with Loving v. Virginia , the Supreme Court overturned all remaining anti-miscegenation laws which banned interracial relationships, including marriages. In the 1800s, however, the court had ruled in favor of states’ rights to ban interracial sex, cohabitation, and marriage. This illustrates the power of cultural mores, which influence the interpretation of the constitution. I am not suggesting Crowley was a nice person, he was in fact pretty unpleasant all-round and he is most widely remembered as a practitioner of black magic and is considered the father of modern occultism and his unsettling reputation still continues and has expanded significantly in the eyes of many. He wielded a wicked and radical power and many found to be even in his presence uncomfortable, with some even feeling that those who upset him could be reached at any future time including from beyond the grave. In 2002, the British Broadcasting Company (BBC) conducted a poll of the 100 most influential Britons of all time with Crowley coming in at number 73. The religion known as Thelema was founded in 1904 by Aleister Crowley (see Liber Legis above), who is regarded as its prophet. Those who follow the path of Thelema are called Thelemites. Details of this strange religion can be easily found on the web or by reading the book.
